What are the selection criteria?

The nominee must exemplify and model in an exceptional manner the essential leadership characteristics of a Professional Learning Community member by:

  • Championing a vision and mission that supports positive change.
  • Exceeding the goals and objectives of the school or board.
  • Inspiring staff to pursue excellence in teaching and student achievement.
  • Creating a culture that stimulates learning and supports continuous staff development.
  • Engaging the people, processes and resources needed to help staff do their jobs better.
The nomination should demonstrate, with examples (Maximum 200 words per category), how the nominee:

   1. Leads by example (models best practices).
  

   2. Involves and include students, teachers, parents and the community.
  

   3. Sees things for what they could be (vision).
  

   4. Creates a culture where staff learning is expected, encouraged and supported (PLC).
  

   5. Positions the school for ongoing success (continuous improvement).
