St. Lawrence Academy is a K - 12 school with an enrollment of 235 students. Our school has a total of 22 educational staff including: 1 guidance counselor, and 4 specialist teachers in the areas of music, physical education, french and library resources. We also have 1 student assistant, 2 full time maintenance staff and one part-time. We have 1 six hour secretarial position.
There are currently 2 full time non-categorical special teachers working with students requiring special needs support. Our school has an active pre-school program coordinated by Ms. Beth Edwards and parent volunteers. The Tutoring for tuition Program is also highly utilized. We are fortunate to be awarded a significant amount of tutoring hours and to have the student and parent interest to offer such a program. Extra-curricular activities are very popular at our school. Sports events of various types take place on a regular basis with the most popular sports being soccer, basketball and cross country running under the guidance of Mr. Klark Pike and Mr. Dwayne Evans. The gym is a constant beehive of activity both for training and competition. The Drama Club, Robotics Club, and the Math Team are also quite busy under the direction of Ms. Alana Walsh Giovanni, Mr. Greg Coombes and Ms. Madonna Lundrigan. St. Lawrence has a very dedicated school council who are pro-active in organizing events to benefit our school community and to promote the well being of our students. We have completed the school development process to the point where we are ready for our external review. This review will take place in February 8th . Once the report from the team is completed we will review their findings capitalizing on our strengths and developing actions plans for needs identified. |
