School Report

Prince of Wales Collegiate has a long history in St. John's. The current building, built in 1959, has had an extension since that time. We service 830 students in Levels 1-4 and Challenging Needs. We currently have a teaching staff of 45.5 persons, 6 student assistants, and 6 support staff.

In addition to the prescribed courses, Prince of Wales offers a number of local courses unique to this district, Advanced Placement courses and concurrent studies affiliated with Memorial University. Local courses include Spanish, beginner French and Russian; and with these studies comes the opportunity for international travel. We also offer a laptop program to our Advanced Placement students, which, in partnership with Memorial , is evaluating whether or not students perform better academically with the assistance of technology. PWC boasts a wonderful Art Program, a large and active Music program, dynamic Theatre Arts courses and performance opportunities and a provincially renowned Physical Education program.

Prince of Wales prides itself on being very socially active. We have a partnership with the Asper Foundation, an organization dedicated to increasing student awareness about Human Rights and Holocaust studies. Our school also offers a wide variety of co curricular and extracurricular activities which meet a variety of student interests.
