Marystown Central High School (MCHS) is a part of the Eastern School District and is located in the Burin Region. MCHS services 27 communities on the Burin Peninsula and has 478 students- 130 in Level I; 161 in Level II, 165 in Level III; and 22 enrolled in upgrading. The school’s fulltime equivalent pupil-teacher ratio (FTE-PTR) is 14.8 as compared to the district’s ratio of 14.1 and the province’s ratio of 13.1. MCHS has 32.3 full-time equivalent teaching units including 2 categorical and 3 non-categorical special education teachers. The school also has 4 Department Head positions in the areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, and English as well as a full-time Guidance Counselor. MCHS has 4 student assistants, a half-time librarian, and one full-time and one part-time secretary. Students at MCHS also receive special services from itinerant school board staff - speechlanguage pathology, visual impairment, and hearing impairment as well as Educational Psychology. Maintenance and custodial support services are also provided.
