Larkhall Academy is a safe, nurturing and inviting community that fosters the

Larkhall Academy is a Kindergarten to Grade Six school, located in St. John’s. It is one
of the 122 schools managed by the Eastern School District. Our school district serves
approximately 44,000 students, and employs nearly 3800 teaching and support staff.
Larkhall Academy has an enrolment of 350 students, with 92 (or 26%) receiving
“Pathways” support. Generally, our school is two-stream with an average class size of
21.9 students.
Larkhall Academy has been allocated 22.84 teaching units for the 2005-06 school year.
This number translates into 21 full-time and 3 part-time teachers. In addition to our 14.5
classroom teachers we have 3 non-categorical Special Education teachers, 1.5 Categorical
teachers, 1 Guidance unit (shared by two counselors), a Music / Band teacher (shared
with another school, and a Physical Education teacher. In addition, we receive specialist
support from the Eastern School District: Educational Psychologist, Speech-Language
Pathologist, English Second Language Itinerant. These specialists provide services to
students as needs are identified. Secretarial, maintenance and custodial services are also
provided through the school district.
