The mission of Donald C. Jamieson Academy is to provide a safe, caring environment in which students can develop to their potential, enabling them to be life-long independent learners by promoting academic excellence, global awareness and personal growth in partnership with home and community.
Our School Community
Our school is a part of District 400 which has 122 schools with a total of 44 000 students. Donald C. Jamieson, located in Burin on the Burin Peninsula, currently has an enrolment of 418 students and offers grades K-7. Students attending Donald C. Jamieson come from the surrounding communities of Burin, Burin Bay Arm, Creston South, Epworth, Lewin's Cove, Port aux Bras, Big Salmonier, Salt Pond, Winterland Road, Fox Cove, Black Duck Cove, Mortier, Winterland, Garnish, Freeman's Cove, and Marystown.
Our school is named in honour of Donald C. Jamieson, a Newfoundland politician.
