Cowan Heights Elementary School opened its doors to students in September 1975. Throughout the years, many children living in the Cowan Heights area have received their elementary education from our school. The school colours of gold and blue, are found in our school crest, along with our motto, "These are our best foundations/Voici nos meilleures fondations". Our school has a mascot, "Cool" the Cougar, who is a central character in our school crest. He assists us in marking celebrations.
In 2000, Early French Immersion was introduced to the school. Currently, there are three classes at each grade level, two English classes and one French Immersion. We follow the prescribed program set out by the Department of Education. Many extra-curricular and co-curricular activities keep the children very active! We are proud to have achieved "Peaceful School" status in 2003. We have a very active Safe and Caring School Team which is following Positive Behavior Support strategies as we support the social learning needs of our students. Healthy Living is also very high on our list of priorities as we participate in a physical fitness activity every week. The staff work as a team to provide a rich learning environment for each student. Our parent body is very supportive in all school initiatives. The school council is a vibrant body that works tirelessly on behalf of all parents and students. . For further information, check out our website, |
