The mission of Beachy Cove Elementary School is to promote lifelong learning, responsible citizenship and the education of the whole child by providing a safe, caring and challenging environment through effective educational practices in partnership with home and community. Beachy Cove Elementary School is operated under the trusteeship of Eastern School District which has 122 schools and approximately 44,000 students. Our school currently has an enrolment of 511 students from Kindergarten through to grade six. The average number of students per class is 23 and 29% of our student population is receiving the Special Services support. Our school serves the community of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s and in excess of 90% of our students are bussed to school. Beachy Cove Elementary School has full time educational staff which includes 21 classroom teachers, 3.5 categorical and non-categorical Special Education teachers, and specialist teachers in the areas of Guidance, Music and Physical Education, and Learning Resources. We also have five Student Assistants. In addition to school based staff, we have itinerant services for Speech-Language Pathology, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, and Educational Psychology. Secretarial, maintenance, and custodial support services are also provided.
