of Service to Children and Youth
The Model for Coordination of Service to Children and Youth is an interdepartmental framework used to ensure the coordination of service delivery in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Departments of Education, Justice, Human Resources and Labor and Health and Community Services are partners in this model. The key element in the model is the Individual Support Services Planning (ISSP) process. When a student is identified as having a need or being at risk the ISSP process is initiated. The ISSP brings the child/youth, the parents/guardians, and all service providers together to provide for seamless planning and delivery of service in the home, the school and the community. (For more information, please visit www.mcscy.nl.ca/).
The Eastern School District provides multidisciplinary ISSP training throughout the school year to parents/guardians and school personnel. Further information on training opportunities can be found at your local school.
