Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees to be Held to Discuss the Crescent Collegiate School SystemMay 9, 2013 Milton Peach, Chair of the Board of Trustees for Eastern School District, today announced that the Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting to discuss the Crescent Collegiate School System on Monday, May 13, 2013. At this meeting the Board of Trustees will be bringing forward a motion to rescind the previous motions to close Whitbourne Elementary and Epiphany Elementary. As well, a new motion will be tabled to commence a public consultation process with the affected school communities with respect to the potential closure of Whtibourne Elementary and Epiphany Elementary. The special meeting of the Board of Trustees will take place at 7:30 p.m at District Conference Centre, 40 Strawberry Marsh Road, St. John¿s. This meeting will be open to the public. | |

Eastern School District Reinstates Secretary Hours at Eleven SchoolsJuly 17, 2012 As a result of consultation with school administrators, feedback from school communities and discussions with CUPE 1560 officials, Eastern School District has reinstated one hour of secretary time per day at 11 schools within the district. "Through consultation with our school administrators and others Eastern School District has decided to reinstate one hour per day of secretary time at eleven schools in the district," said Dr. Bruce Vey, Acting CEO/Director of Education of Eastern School District. "While Eastern School District was clearly acting within its right as the employer as per the collective agreement with CUPE 1560, we have decided to maintain the status quo at these eleven schools." | |

Budget 2012 Enhances Eastern School District InfrastructureApril 25, 2012 With the announcement of planning of four potential new schools along with a significant investment in capital improvements, Eastern School District believes Budget 2012 is a positive one which will have long-lasting impacts upon students and communities. Department of Education Releases Consultant's Report on School Infrastructure Planning for Northeast AvalonNovember 23, 2010 The findings of a consultant's report looking at infrastructure planning for schools in the greater St. John's region is now available. The report, commissioned by the Provincial Government in response to the Eastern School Board's multi-year facility plan, recognized that re-organization is needed and concurred with most of the board's recommendations. | |
