The following is a list of Good News that has happened in our schools throughout the month of November, 2009.

Bishops College Teacher Awarded Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence November 16, 2009 Ms. Bonnie Campbell, English Department Head, Bishops College, is one of 56 teachers throughout Canada to receive a Certificate of Achievement for the 2009 Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence. The Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence recognize the efforts of outstanding elementary and secondary school teachers in all disciplines who instill in their students a love of learning and equip them with the skills they need to meet the challenges of a 21st century society and economy. Some of the highlights of Ms. Cambell's teaching career that have earned her this prestigious award include creating a filmmaking unit for Grade 10 students where students learned about filmmaking, created storyboards and shot and edited their own films; she supplements literature studies with computer, radio and film resources, i.e., she asked students to compare and contrast four film version of Macbeth; and she finds creative and imaginative ways for students to study Shakespeare's plays. An excerpt from her nomination reads: "Ever since she began her career, Bonnie Campbell has first and foremost been an English teacher. She loves the language and literature, and knows how they can enrich and improve students' lives. No matter what else she involves her students in - filmmaking, video and computer technology, clubs, trips and projects - she is always teaching them English."
