Pearl is one of four schools selected to have their 2010 Living Healthy Commotions showcased during Newfoundland and Labrador Day at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Education, announced today that the chosen schools are Amos Comenius Memorial School, Hopedale; St. Peter's Academy, Benoit's Cove; Baie Verte Academy, Baie Verte; and O'Donel High School. Living Healthy Commotions are organized each year by teachers and students in schools throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, and provide an opportunity for school communities to focus on healthy living through different physical activities and the promotion of healthy food choices. The four selected schools will have the unique opportunity to share their commotion activities and events with the rest of Canada and the world on Newfoundland and Labrador Day. Commotion activities will be played as part of the Olympic celebrations including the Canada AM live broadcast from Vancouver; and in Atlantic Canada House - a pan-Atlantic pavilion located on Granville Island in British Columbia designed to highlight the hospitality, culture and heritage of the East Coast during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
